Class IV Laser

What is laser therapy?

Aspen Summit Laser

Laser therapy is a medical breakthrough therapeutic device with unparalleled applications and outcomes. The Laser works by converting light into biochemical energy, resulting in
normal cell function, which causes symptoms (PAIN) to disappear. The primary biological action of laser results from stimulation of cellular transport mechanisms in the mitochondria, cell membranes and epithelial tissues. This action causes the release of vasodilatation chemicals, the stimulation of DNA and RNA (building blocks) synthesis, an increase in enzyme production, an increase of superoxide dismutase activity, normalization of tissue pH, and increased ATP production. The increase of vasodilatation (blood supply) and improved microcirculation will increase the supply of cellular nutrition promoting tissue repair and remodeling (which means you heal faster). Significant reduction in edema (swelling) is also noted.

The addition of this new therapeutic modality allows the practitioner to enhance the patient’s healing in multiple ways. Pain reduction can occur through decreasing inflammatory chemicals, decreasing nerve irritability, and even nerve regeneration.  Healing tissue after an injury, has shown to be stronger from laser therapy stimulation than without.  Muscle soreness and swelling can be decreased allowing a faster return to activity and decreased treatments.

How is the treatment done?

A specific dose is determined based on whether your condition is chronic, the region of the body, and other individual factors. Laser therapy sessions can take anywhere from 5-10 minutes, and it is common to return for 5-10 sessions depending on the condition. The laser is placed in contact with the skin, allowing the healing energy to penetrate tissue where it Laser Treatmentinteracts with various intracellular bio-molecules. This produces a mild sensation of warmth and muscle relaxation, resulting in the restoration of normal cell function. This also enhances the body’s natural healing processes. In essence, light energy is converted into biochemical energy. This results in restored normal cell function. The process results in a disappearance of symptoms and increases the speed at which your body heals.

Other Effects of the Deep Tissue Laser include stimulation of the immune system response, improvement of lymphatic drainage, increased production of growth hormones and enhancement of the body’s natural healing process. These beneficial physiological changes are the result of tissue regeneration and cellular stimulation. You will notice that at Circle Chiropractic we focus on reduction and elimination of pain by using one of the most powerful therapy lasers available to help our patients.

What conditions benefit from laser therapy?

Patients who suffer from acute or chronic muscular or nerve pain in their low back, mid back, or neck may seek relief with the addition of laser therapy to their regular chiropractic treatments. Other conditions such as peripheral neuropathy, shoulder tendinopathy, Achilles tendonitis, and plantar fasciitis have also shown improvement. The class IV laser has also assisted in cases of TMJ syndrome, carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, both degenerative and rheumatoid arthritis, and other disc disorders.
